Hacking Toys into Tangible Interfaces workshop
This one day workshop serves as an introduction to tangible interface design. It examines the role of physical computing in multimedia design, covering basic interaction design theory and hardware hacking techniques.
The workshop begins with a look at the building blocks of physical computing, exploring the creative use of switches and sensors alongside software. There will also be a practical demonstration of interface design
projects from DKIT’s Creative Multimedia degree.
During the lab session each participant will be assisted in the creation of their own tangible interface, made by hacking together an electronic pushbutton toy and a usb keyboard. They will then be shown how to link
their custom controller up to the software of their choice.
The day will finish up a demo of all the projects, bringing a close to what promises to be a productive and fun workshop. We look forward to seeing you there!
